ESP Ron Wood Signature Series Telecaster This is a Ron Wood Signature series telecaster made by ESP. Ronnie Wood is one of the guitarists with the Rolling Stones, and this guitar was designed to his specs for his own signature sound. Check out this link for a review I wrote of it on Harmony Central. |

This guitar is a metallic blue in color -- unfortunately the picture does not do the beautiful finish justice.
It's got double binding, which has aged to a mellow cream color and looks great. Fender produced their double bound "telecaster customs" beginning in 1959. The Ron Wood model has a 5 screw pickguard, another thoughtful nod to the vintage telecaster tradition. Note the bridge -- not the typical "ashtray" style found on most telecasters. Instead, it is a more modern six saddle affair, which intonates perfectly. This guitar also came stock with a humbucking pickup in the neck position. If you've ever listened to any of Ron's work with the Faces, Rod Stewart, or his solo records, you know that a neck humbucker is a huge element of his tone. |

The above two pictures show the front and back of the guitar. Notice that the headstock is slightly different from that on Fender telecasters.
The body is made of alder, and while it is somewhat heavy, it has got great sound. The neck has got a slightly larger radius (9.5") than the traditional vintage Fender radius (7.25"), which makes string bending and vibrato almost too easy. It also has a satiny finish that plays very fast. The neck is made out of quartersawn maple. |
